How to Care for Cork Flooring

Natural Product

When using intensive room heating, the indoor air humidity may drop so low that the floor is prone to dry out. Since cork is a natural material, this may cause shrinkage that will result in minor gaps in the flooring joints. You can use a room humidifier to prevent this.

The recommend relative humidity level is 35-65% at 68°F (20°C).

Cork, as a natural material, may tend to fade when exposed to sunlight. Color change is expected when exposed to natural light over a long period of time.

Cleaning Tips

~ Vacuum or sweep floor at least once a week to remove all loose dirt. Use a damp mop or sponge to clean.

~ Do not use cleaning products with abrasive ingredients or ammonia/solvent based (e.g. acetone). Use simple floor cleaning products or approved products.

~ Avoid excess liquids on floor for prolonged periods of time.

~ Place quality walk-off mats at all entrances to retain dirt, grit and moisture.

~ Never use wire brushes.

Other Helpful Tips

~ Do not drag furniture across the floor.

~ Use felt pads on chair and furniture legs.

~ Use protective office mats under the rolling chairs.

~ Never use latex or rubber backed mats as they can permanently stain the floor.
